Whole dining space is only 140 x 200.
There is one door and one heater on a wall too
so its not possible to use all area in this case. |

We chose to do nothing to this old leg made of iron. |
1. Here we have used two benches that are actually for outdoors use. Their size is 80 x 40 and we put them opposite to each other. If you have space then you can also make a corner seat. The point is to avoid too many chairs which you have to move from time to time when more people are around the table.
These are from IKEA.
2. Put nice cushions on, there are lots of them in all kind of colours and sizes. Espalier you see is also from IKEA for outdoor use and comes in two parts. One part we have put on one wall but it can be put the whole way up or use the other half over the other bench. The point is to have somewhere to have support for your back. There are other solutions too for that but to save the space these way with the these tiny pads are enough to sit comfy.
3. If you can find a table thats standing on one "leg" would give you more space on the floor. This board we got cut out into size 60 x 90 which does it well for 2-4 people. On the short end of the table there is space for a spare chair.
We used table leg made of iron as it is from a garden table and one of those that usually come with the marble top. It is also nice but usually they are round and small which might not be enough for our needs in this case.
We used woodstain varnish to paint the board so it matches the benches but it could also be nice with any other colour that you prefer. Just remember to not have too many different colours in a tiny space as it can make it look messy.
4. The decorating is up to you - here we used what we had on hand. Nice big green plants are also ok especially if you have high ceilings and good windowsills. Few lamps with cosy light will make the place look really appealing.
And why not few candles too!
Enjoy your meals!
